Italian National Institute of Health
The official opening of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (Italian National Institute of Health), called Istituto di Sanità Pubblica, took place on April 21, 1934. The construction of the main building in Rome, designed by architect Giuseppe Amendola, started on July 6, 1931.
It is a public corporation which, as a technical-scientific body of the National Health Service in Italy, carries out functions of research, testing, monitoring, consulting, documentation and training relating to public health.The Institute works under the supervision of the Italian Ministry of Health.
