The Lancet Gastroenterology and Hepatology - A group of Canadian scientists analysed a watch-and-wait approach as a treatment for rectal cancer. They demonstrated that in some cases it could avoid the morbidity of conventional surgery. However, more prospective studies are needed to confirm long-term safety of this approach.
