Healthy eating: the first step towards colorectal cancer prevention
Gastroenterology - A team of American researchers followed more the 137000 patients for up to 32 years to examine the association between different dietary patterns and colorectal cancer incidence. Results achieved show that some dietary factors, especially red and processed meats, are strongly associated with an increased risk of bowel cancer, and confirm that “western” diets (rich in red and processed meats, added sugar and refined grains) play a major role in the development of colorectal cancer.
This study underlines the importance of making healthy dietary choices to significantly reduce colorectal cancer risk.
